i made an offer on a short sale, how fast could this situation close?

apparently BOA told her to do a short sale. She is elderly and doesnt work (her husband paid for the house) and wants it gone so she can move to be near her children. its too bad what happened to her…but im thinking maybe this is a hardship that a bank will move quickly on…thoughts?
